-Would you pray about partnering with me financially?
-I will be leading worship and teaching in Cyprus.
-Here in Kansas City I am spending 50 hours a week in worship and prayer.
-If you have lost track of me, I wrote an update on my doings since 1999.
I Need Money—But, who doesn’t?
Our hearts are so divided, we are all on a journey of discovering how to really trust in Jesus. It is completely scandalous to our souls when we stand at the cross realizing that there is nothing that we can do to add or deserve it. We don’t deserve it. Yet, we are painfully aware of our desperate need. If God doesn’t get me out of this mess, no one can. Sometimes we think that our sacrifice or our worship is kind of like paying God back for what He did in coming to die on our behalf. We are deceived, I know, many of you are thinking, of course I don't believe that, that's bad theology. And yet, just because we know it is wrong doesn't mean that we aren't leaning on that idea more than we lean on the truth of God that we are absolutely naked and barren and weak. He is the only strength that we have.
It's humbling to ask for things. But, I think that is part of why the Lord works that way. Not to humble us, but because He is humble and that's the way that He moves. Love is humble, not self-seeking or ambitious in any way. I'm learning from Him. That's what He said isn't it? Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am meek and humble in heart. And if Jesus lived in such a way that He was supported by others, then who am I to say that I can depend on myself? I mean, it kills my pride not to be able to support myself. So, here I am, appealing to you guys. I am a "missionary" which means that I give most of my time to building the kingdom of God, through prayer and worship as well as teaching, evangelizing, and discipling. This also means that I don't spend any of that time earning money. This means that the money that I live on mostly comes from gifts from the generous hearts of people of God. I have to always recognize that God is my source and not anything else. Even if I did do work that earned me money, He would still be my source, for He is the source of all wealth. I know that the work I am doing is for God and for His kingdom. I trust in Him.
I need money to live on, money to travel to Cyprus with, money to pay rent and buy groceries, etc. I need money to buy tools like a keyboard and a (lightweight) computer, etc.
What I don’t want to do is give the idea that I am asking for money because I see my role as doing ministry and your role as making money to make me able to do it. However, I know that God has designed the community of faith as such that we help to meet each other’s needs. And so, as I say every time I send out an update, if you feel that the Lord is pricking your heart to send me money or a word or whatever, here is my info:

When I move back to IHOP, I will be able to set up a system in which I receive my support from them and the donation will be tax deductible, but until then, you will just be writing the check out to me, and I will have a point person in the states deposit the money for me.
What I am doing in Kansas City
(Now and again in April-after the DTS)
Currently, I am on full time staff here on the base. This means I spend about 50 plus hours a week doing something related to intercession, worship, prayer, Bible study, etc. I am on two worship teams here, I sing on both of them. This alone is a 24 hour commitment (can you imagine 24 hours of singing a week!?) Sometimes I do it up to 8 hours in a day. I can’t imagine playing a guitar that long as some people here do. I also substitute on other teams, which means that I spend a little more than 24 hours a week singing… Other things I do and have done around the House of Prayer is cleaning, driving shuttles, conference registration. I have been very careful not to get sucked into an office for this season of my life. That doesn’t mean I will never do that again, but I really wanted to spend this time focusing on prayer and worship. I know that I have a job description that would probably make a lot of you jealous. Well, you’re welcome to join me! J in Cyprus (http://www.ywam.cy.com/ or here! (http://www.ihop.org/ ) just come and do an intro program, DTS or Introduction to IHOP.
What I will be doing in Cyprus (September-April).
I will be on the DTS staff as the worship leader as well as one of the instructors. This is a unique position because of the vision of this particular DTS*. We will have students from many of the surrounding nations, as well as nations far from Cyprus, and we will be teaching them many of the foundations of the faith and ministering to their needs through prayer and counsel. The vision of the DTS is to train young people to be radical and obedient lovers of God and to send them back to the homelands with the message of God's love and His plan burning in their hearts. This DTS will be unique in that we want to really center it around prayer and worship, not only instilling this lifestyle in our students, but launching sustained intercession and worhip in Cyprus, to contend in the Spirit for God's purposes in the Middle East. We desire that the prayers going up from our community of prayer in Cyprus will partner with what God is doing in the Middle East. I have the great honor and responsibily of leading the worship in this arena as well. My desire is to spend at least 24 hours a week in prayer and worship, about half of what I do here. I will not keep silent until the Lord hears from heaven and acts! (Isaiah 62:6)*DTS-Discipleship Training School- a six month school focused on basic discipleship. There are 3 months of a lecture phase and 2 or so months of outreach.
Update on my life from 1999-present
Since high school, I can't believe it has been so long, almost 8 years, wow!
I did Teen Mania's Honor Academy in 1999, I know some of you from that, then I spent some time spending time with God, sitting at His feet and listening to Him, for a couple of months, I was also helping lead the youth group at the church I went to while they looked for a full-time youth pastor. I then went to work with Arab Int'l Ministries, which is now called Crescent Project (www.crescentproject.org). After that I went to Bethany College of Missions (www.bcom.org) from which I know many of you. After Bethany, I went to Italy for 5 months and then to Cyprus to do a DTS. Then I came back to the states and did a semester of studying business and economics and things like that with plans to do a MA in International Development, and God interrupted my plans (I'm so grateful!) and I ended up in Kansas City (the closest to my home town that I have lived in years.) And now I'm on full time staff at IHOP.
Prayer Requests
- I haven't had any regular supporters in many years, pray that God will raise up people to partner with me and regularly support me financially.
- I need to raise at least $700 a month as well as traveling expenses, pray that God provides (especially for my plane ticket-which I have to buy soon).
- Pray that God would call the students to come from the surrounding nations (especially the ME) and make a way for them.
- Pray that God would send us more worshippers and intercessors that we may gather (Joel 2:15-16) and call on God to have mercy on the Middle East.
- Pray that God would anoint me to teach and lead as I am there and also while I am hear. I want to be one that hears God and heeds His word so as to proclaim it.
